  • African American Odyssey is a Library of Congress special exhibition that explores the African-American struggle for full citizenship. The exhibit includes online material from rare books, government documents, manuscripts, maps, musical scores, plays, films, and recordings.
  • The World Book online encyclopedia presents a similar exhibit titled World Book Encyclopedia Presents: The African American Journey.
  • Africans in America is a PBS production that focuses primarily on African-American experiences prior to and including the Civil War. It features an excellent set of historical documents and resources.
  • African American Pamphlets Home Page of the Library of Congress notes that "the Daniel A. P. Murray Pamphlet Collection presents a panoramic and eclectic review of African-American history and culture, spanning almost one hundred years from the early nineteenth through the early twentieth centuries, with the bulk of the material published between 1875 and 1900. Among the authors represented are Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington, Ida B. Wells-Barnett, Benjamin W. Arnett, Alexander Crummel, and Emanuel Love."
